Access to Independence was set up by and is run by Robert Birmingham. He is an Occupational Therapist with many years experience in working with people with disabilities enabling them to overcome the problems which they encounter in their every day lives.
Robert qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1995 and has gained considerable knowledge of Housing and Social Care issues whilst working as both a practitioner and in a managerial capacity for a large local authority. He has extensive experience in assessing equipment requirements and adaptations for individuals and organisations, including an understanding of a wide range of disabilities and issues concerning the accessibility of both public and private buildings.
As an OT Robert is currently the vice-chairperson of the College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section - Independent Practice (COTSS-IP). He is a regular contributor to trades show and exhibitions and professional events such as Naidex and The OT Show and has had articles published in occupational therapy literature.
Based in the South-East of England we offer a nationwide service and aim to provide affordable and appropriate assessments to suit all levels of need.
